The case of the killing of Reeva Steenkamp, by Former Olympian star has been served a final judgment. The track star who said he mistook girl friend for an intruder has been sentenced to
5years in prison for culpable homicide.
Although his defense wanted a non-prison penalty and community service, but the prosecution and state asked for a minimum of 10years in sentence for the double amputee. The family lawyer for late Reeva Steenkamp says they are satisfied with the judgement.
According to the presiding judge Thokozile Masipa , “a non-custodial and long sentence would not inappropriate and lack mercy. She also said the court was to serve justice and not follow public interest”. He also has a 3-year suspended sentence for gun charge. Pistorius is likely serve less time and get correctional supervision.
Oscar shot, killed girl friend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013. Until her death, she was a fashion model and a tv presenter.
