Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum, Dieziani Alison-Madueke has just been elected as the first ever female president of the Organization
of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Her election into office of the body took place today at the ongoing 166th General Meeting of OPEC in far away Vienna, Austria.She takes over the former president of OPEC, Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar-Ahirish.
She is expected to resume office immediately and will hold office for one year.
