After setting its
first record with the 9,999 choir singers as the largest choir in the world,
the Godswill Akpabio Unity Choir, a
combination of choirs from across
Christendom in the state has set another record. They have become the largest
group of Carol Singers in the World according to the Guinness World Records!
The epoch making
event featured Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Don Moen, Panam Percy Paul, Nathaniel
Bassey, Aity Dennis, El-Mafrex, Freke Umoh, Linda Etokudoh, Buchi, Mosaic,
Patience Esekhile, The Voices of Jamaica. Others also include the Harmonious
Chorale of Ghana, Soweto Spiritual Singers, The AMEMUSO Choir, The Federation
of Saint Kitts and Nevis National Choir, Chorale Divine de Merveilles or the
Divine Wonder Choir-Congo Brazzaville, AKSG Choir, Ibom Orchestra and Unity Brass
Band.
The Unity choir had
on December 13, 2014 at the Uyo Township Stadium presented 25,382 carol singers
in the record attempt.
The Guinness World
Records in an official statement however, gave the official figure as 25,272.
