LG is set to show off an upgraded smart TV at CES 2015, powered by a new version of webOS that offers an "intuitive and convenient" user
experience.
LG Electronics will introduce a new smart TV powered by webOS 2.0 at CES 2015, which kicks off on January 6 in Las Vegas.
LG said webOS 2.0 is an upgraded version of the company's smart TV platform webOS, and has new functions that are "intuitive and convenient" to use.
Speed seems to be the name of the game. Loading times have been reduced by 60 percent from the original webOS and converting apps takes less time as well, the South Korean tech giant said. Entering the Youtube app, for instance, will happen 70 percent faster compared to using the first version of webOS.
Users can also save their favourite channels on the My Channel menu on the home screen. External Input and Settings menus were also added to webOS 2.0.
The company acquired the source code, development infrastructure, and related documents of webOS from HP in February 2013.
