After yesterday’s court injunction restraining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from presenting Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel as winner of the Governorship Primary congress held in Akwa Ibom State on December 8, it is alleged that Justice Y. Halilu has refused $5million
from Governor Godswill Akpabio.
According to online news portal Ibommobile.com, it reports that “a Govenment House informant reliably disclosed that since Friday, Akpabio has had no sleep and is distraught to the point that he withdrew over $5million from state coffers to bribe the judge and other relevant judiciary staff.”
It also adds that a domestic aide to Justice Y. Halilu, confided to this newspaper that “the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, came to my oga on Friday night with three unmarked SUVs, but we were instructed not to allow him enter the compound”.
Meanwhile, the Presidency is said to have washed its hands off Akpabio. The judge, it was also gathered, is under close watch by federal government and civil society groups.
