The word Fibroid brings with it the scare of surgery! It is a word every woman dares, never to hear from her doctor. Yes, to say the truth, Fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) growths that occur in the muscle that makes up the bulk of the womb. Essentially composed of
muscle and fibrous tissue, fibroids can vary in size; while some may be as small as a pea, others can be larger than a grapefruit. Small fibroids may not cause any symptoms at all.
However, the larger they get, the more likely they are to give rise to problems such as heavy periods, bladder symptoms (due to pressure) and backache.
While Fibroids are common, they are not a typical cause for infertility accounting for about 3% of reasons why a woman may not have a child. Typically in such cases a fibroid is located in a submucosal position and it is thought that this location may interfere with the function of the lining and the ability of the embryo to implant. Also larger fibroids may distort or block the fallopian tubes.
Fibroids are believed to grow in response to the female hormone oestrogen, and tend to shrink after the time of menopause as oestrogen levels decline. Fibroids affect about one in five women over the age of 30, and are particularly common in women aged between 35 and 45.

One area of the body that often needs some attention in order to control fibroid growth is the Liver. Oestrogen is broken down in the liver, so if the liver is sluggish, oestrogen is more likely to exert its action in the body, which in turn increases the likelihood of fibroids.
As much as possible, your diet needs to be low in those foods and drinks which tend to stress the Liver including fatty foods (processed foods and red meat particularly), coffee (and other
Caffeinated beverages), and Alcohol. It will help you to base your diet on whole, unrefined foods, fresh fruits and vegetables and water (at least 1 and a half litres per day). Avoiding foods which may contain oestrogen such as meat and perhaps milk might also help you.
Although there are a number of artificial ways to get rid of fibroids, the natural methods to cure fibroids are considered to be the safest. Using natural products are known to be free from any side effects. It is not just the food we consume but our regular habits as well which determine the state of our health.
Home remedies
Treating fibroids is possible with some natural products that are available in your pantry at home. Some of these food items are:
1. Garlic
2. Reishi mushrooms
3. Wild yam
4. Dandelion
5. Chasteberry
6. Milk thistle
7. Lady’s mantle
8. Fish
9. Soybeans
All of these are considered to have some unique effect against fibroids. Uterine fibroids are dependent on Estrogens levels for them to thrive, and these above-mentioned food items can deter increases in Estrogens level, consequently helping to shrink Uterine Fibroids. Reishi mushrooms are capable of reducing histamine levels. The Allicin content in garlic can prevent further tumor growth in the uterus. Wild yam and dandelion act on the estrogen secretion, ultimately relieving several debilitating symptoms of uterine fibroids. Lady’s mantle is commonly used to help regulate abnormal menstrual periods.
So living a life of concern is all that needed to overcome fibroid.
