The Akwa-Cross end of the Nollywood film industry is living up to expectations as “Akan”, a debut production of Archibong Archibong from South-
South Nigeria is gearing up for premiere this July 2014.
“Akan” is the story of a young man who returns from his study abroad and introduces his fiancée, Sophie to his parents. Unfortunately, this doesn’t go down well for him as his father who would prefer a girl in tune with their ways and culture. Will Akan win the battle with his father? Or will he succumb to pressure?
The film is a mix of both English and Ibibio languages with subtitles. It features acts which include Alex Ekubo, Ime ‘Bishop’ Okon, Emma Etukudo, Grace Johnson, Venita Akpofure, Gloria Aju and Archie Sam.
Plans are in place to show the movie in cinemas across the country, with premieres scheduled for Lagos, Uyo, Calabar and Port-Harcourt at a later announced date. The film is directed by award winning actor and one of Nollywood’s finest directors, Desmond Elliot.
