The hope of fans anticipating the cinema release of the Half of a Yellow Sun movie in Nigeria has yet again been dashed by another postponement.
According
to the PR rep for the movie, Big Sam Media, said that the movie will not be shown until later in the month of May following the refusal of the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board to issue certification for the movie. According
However, it is yet to be confirmed that the delay may not be unconnected to the story line, which is based on the Nigerian civil war.
Directed by Nigerian playwright-director, Biyi Bandele, the movie stars international acts, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton and Anika Noni-Rose as well as Genevieve Nnaji, Onyeka Onwenu and OC Ukeje.
NFVCB is yet to respond to our inquiries, and it has not disclosed the reason behind the delay in approvals.
