Fadabasi may sue Diamond Bank if…

Nigeria's foremost afrocentric Folk-rock act and 'Abasi Ayaiya' crooner Fadabasi may have no choice than to advance a suit with one of Nigeria’s leading financial institution- Diamond Bank if they fail to pay up royalties for the use of his song ‘Diamond in the sky’ since
2007, and if they continue to use same without proper negotiation, documentation and payment.

It was reported that Diamond Bank has maintained the use of Fadabasi’s ’Diamond in the sky’ years after the endorsement deal with the bank through his then record label- Orangootan.

Fadabasi brought this to the public know through a statement made available by his management company iSTRiTZ Entertainment, in the statement, it is reported that Fadabasi is yet to hear from Mr. Carl Raccah, the Chief Executive Officer of Oragootan. Fadabasi stated that if he (Carl) fails to represent the contract with Diamond Bank and lay claims, he will also be joined in the suit.
However, all efforts to reach Carl has proved abortive and he has failed to reply messages after being notified of the development, all he could say was that he will get back to me, Fadabasi concluded.
Before now, the last that was heard of Fadabasi was him doing away with his 9 years old dreadlock, his performance at Afrika Shrine during Felabration 2013, the 2013 Calabar Festival in Cross River state, and the 9,999 concert in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

It could be recalled that Fadabasi recorded the theme song for Diamond Bank’s campaign, shot a video for same song, and his images graced billboards for the financial institution and he is now embittered, alleging that he did not receive commensurate payment.
