Nsikak Tom: Leading youths to a new Akwa Ibom


This write up seeks to unveil the brain behind the largest gatheringof Akwa Ibom Youths in Nigeria. Introducing Nsikak Tom Udo, a passionate Akwa Ibom Youth Empowerment and Development advocate, who was former Vice president, University of Lagos Student Association, a Chartered Accountant, also an Associate member of Chattered Institute  of Arbitration of Nigeria, currently in Law School.

His strong
passion for Akwa Ibom Youth Empowerment and Development made him and his team pioneer an initiative that sought to not only to give Akwa Ibom Youths a strong voice to be heard but to also economically reposition Akwa Ibom state youths through series of Inspirational empowerment and development programme- Akwa Ibom Youth  Convention (Celebrating and Inspiring Akwa Ibom Youths).

Akwa Ibom Youth Convention seeks to bring together young Akwa Ibomites from all over the world to exchange views, share experiences, reflect together and, above all, detect common preoccupations; problems and challenges facing Akwa Ibom State Youths. Today’s Akwa Ibom Youths are raising their voices to shape the present and future of their Akwa Ibom State. They want to be heard, to be included in decision-making debates and to make change.

Youth empowerment and Development, Student engagement, social innovation, fostering democracy, youth employment, conflict and sustain able development are among the issues that have been discussed at Akwa Ibom Youth Convention.
The huge success of Nsikak and his patriotic team in Ibom Youth Pathfinder worldwide in empowering some Akwa Ibom Youths through scholarship programmes, on the job vocational training, job placements and many more have earned him and the organization many awards of honor and recognition. He is presently a patron of over fifty (50) Youth Organizations.

His exploits as an Akwa Ibom Youth Empowerment and Development advocate has led him submit himself as a Youth Volunteer in The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, also in a Youth-led Monitoring and Evaluation of Non-formal Education Programme of The United Nations, a pilot project which aims at empowering out-of-school adolescent girls, the most marginalized group of poor rural populations, to become agents of social transformation in their communities. He is at the
forefront of bringing The UNESCO Youth Forum to our dear state, held prior to UNESCO's General Conference.
